Travels through the Mexican countryside revealed a vast array of typologies, both urban and rural, that lend themselves to study of both space and place. From Mayan ruins to the dense urban fabric of Mexico City, intensive analysis was undertaken to grasp what it is to construct a  successful space.

Emphasis was placed upon drawing technique such as gestural rendering, cityscapes, facade analysis, and watercolor paintings to explore the unique color palette used throughout the country.

A semester study in Italy involved both architectural and cultural discovery. The city of Rome acts as a living textbook as ancient ruins are juxtaposed against layers of urban development and a multitude of artistic eras. Studying the evolution of  Rome throughout the centuries, I attempted to capture different periods as I honed my sketching skills. In particular, I focused on sculpture and the use of perspective in creating depth in space.
